NEWS: Callout for speakers at TEDxUWA: Masterpiece
TEDxUWA, an independently organized TED event, is looking for a few goods arts and culture speakers for their event TEDxUWA: Masterpiece.
TEDxUWA: Masterpiece is a local, independently organized event to be conducted at the Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery at the University of Western Australia as part of the Winter Arts Festival. They want this to be an event that strives to re-create the unique experience found at TED, where the world’s leading thinkers and doers congregate to share what they are most passionate about. At its core, the fundamental goal of TEDxUWA: Masterpiece is to foster and spread great ideas.
The conference will be held at the Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery at UWA on Saturday, July 16th from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and will be centered on the theme: arts and culture. They hope that the diverse group of people who present will learn from one another, both as speakers and as attendees, and will leave the conference driven to creatively improve our collective future.
If you’re interested in applying to be a speaker for this event, the deadline is Monday , June 6th.

SPEAKER INFORMATION:
Who We’re Looking For
TEDxUWA: Masterpiece will focus on the theme of arts and culture. We are seeking people who have experienced an epiphany, or spark of knowledge; people who wish to share their stories of inspiration and ideas that shift paradigm, topple stigma and advance thinking. Some examples could include growth through travel, adapting to a new culture, experiencing or creating art, or a musical performance.
Speakers from all walks of life are invited to apply to present at TEDxUWA: Masterpiece. If you are unsure as to whether you are suited to speak at a TEDx event, watch this video by TED curator Chris Anderson, where he talks about the most important ingredient to a great TED talk.
Your Talk
Your presentation, or “TED Talk”, should be about 10-12 minutes in length: long enough to say something of significance, but short enough to hold everyone’s attention and to be easily watched as a recorded video. The TED format has proven that a carefully prepared talk of this length can have astonishing impact. Conversely, not all of the presentations at TEDxUWA: Masterpiece will necessarily be in this range. Some will be as short as 5 minutes and some as long as 18 minutes, depending on the individual speakers and the overall time limit for the event.
