NEWS: WHAT’S ON? Week Ending 29.11
It’s the last week in November and it’s starting to get quiet around Perth, but there are is still plenty to do!
CINDERELLA
WA Ballet
Runs 20 Nov – 13 Dec
About the show:
Set in the resplendent ‘30s, Cinderella is a tale of romance, jealously and enchantment. Cinderella’s downtrodden life as a servant to her selfish and vain stepsisters changes on the evening of the palace ball, when her Fairy Godmother appears and casts a spell that will transform her life forever.
Choreographed by WAB Principal Dancer Jayne Smeulders, Cinderella premiered in 2011 with sold-out seasons in both Perth and Canberra. Smeulders’ has masterfully created a ballet that captivates the whole family:
“It’s definitely a real fairy-tale and has that magical look to it. It’s very much a family-oriented show. There’s nothing out of the box about it and I’m happy with that” says Smeulders.
Set to Sergei Prokofiev’s evocative score, performed by West Australian Philharmonic Orchestra, this beautiful production shines with “a little Disney dazzle, a good dose of the Brothers Grimm and a smattering of pantomime.” – The West Australian.
