NEWS: The BeauVine Festival

JumpClimb Events just loves to get people together to eat, drink and be merry, so they’ve gone and created yet another festival for us Perthians to do just that.

JumpClimb are the folks that organise the Beaufort Street Festival and Noodle Palace at Fringe World, so this probably won’t be your typical food and wine fair. They’re brining along some artists and live music to spice up the atmosphere at Birdwood Square in Highgate this coming weekend.

Birdwood Square is normally the weekend haunt of the local football clubs, but its Highgate location makes it a pretty accessible spot for Mt. Lawley/Northbridge/North Perth dwellers, but it’s all the tasty F&B on offer that will bring in the crowds from further afield.

BeauVine is primarily food and beverage focused in its inaugural year, with stalls from all our favourite local brewers and wineries, Gage Roads, Feral, Little Creatures, Voyager, Madfish, just to name a few of the 30 drink-tasting stations on offer. And there will be meat. Probably a lot of it will be smoked. Sorry vegans. There will be masterclasses to help you appreciate how your craft beer is made and let you marvel at all the different lines each company has on offer. Happy *hic* tasting! *hic*

BUT. This is a live art blog, so I wanted to spread a little love for the second part of the celebration, the MUSIC and ART.

There will be a six metre long inflatable cow, street artists drawing on a Lamborghini called Marked x Fabcar by Space Oddities, a remote control chicken derby by visual artists ololo, and UnChARTed will have a gallery set up. A record fair curated by Leederville’s Go Go Retro and a mini-market style Suitcase Rummage will provide additional entertainment to ticketholders.

If this takes off, here’s yet another step to making Perth a year-round festival kind of city. And that sounds pretty delicious to me.
