NEWS & VIEWS: Great White by The Skeletal System, Will O’Mahony on tour

I love it when our best independent theatre gets a life beyond its initial run.

It’s such a tough thing to get a show up and running in the first place, and once the adrenaline and momentum subsides, after the accolades have rolled in and audiences have left satisfied, it’s tempting to put a show to bed and move on to the next inspiration, the next project, the next rock to push up a mountain. It’s tempting to live with the memory of a good show rather than look for a time, place and space to do it all again, to keep developing it, keep perfecting it. And good luck gathering that same wonderful team of artists, when everyone else is in a different place in their careers, with fingers in other pies, in demand elsewhere.

Sometimes it’s all worth the effort to try again.

So I’m happy to see that The Skeletal System and Performing Lines WA have decided that Will O’Mahony’s Great White is worth the effort, and are touring it down south this October. Here’s my review for Australian Stage Online of the show during its Blue Room season in 2013:

And if you’re down south throughout October, consider getting to one of the following shows. It will be worth your effort.

Koorliny Arts Centre | 17 October 2015

Albany Entertainment Centre | 21 October 2015

Mandurah Performing Arts Centre | 23 – 25 October 2015

Arts Margaret River | 29 October 2015

Bunbury Regional Arts Centre | 31 October 2015
